Making Folds
Making folds in clothing textures is not as hard as everyone seems to think. In this tutorial I will walk you through how to do so. I will not be using images since everyones opacities and textures will be different. This tutorial should be easy enough to follow with out images. If not just let me know and I can always re-edit this page and add them in.
1. Create your opacity map (see tutorial)
2. Colorize and texturize your outfit (see tutorial)
3. Now that you have steps 1 and 2 finished its time to start with making the folds. Using the paint brush size 3 or 5 make a straight line using a slightly deeper shade of the color your outfit is. Make sure it is where you want the fold to be.
4. Using the paint brush size 1 or 3 (1 if you used 3 before, 3 if you used 5) draw a line right beside your darker one using white this time. This should make you have 2 lines in the same area. One darker then the desired color, and one white.
5. Using your blur tool slightly go over your lines. this should make the two colors go together.
6. Save as either .jpeg, .jpg or .png.
7. Apply to your opacity map in the previewer and adjust as needed.
Note: You can repeat steps as desired. Depending on how many folds or wrinkles you would like to have in your outfit.
